Info: In his short life, Jan had to experience many gruesome things. At the age of 6, his family and friends were mercilessly hunted down and killed by the Dai Lee, because they've formed a group called "Hidden Freedom", trying to open the eyes and minds of the people inside the walls of Ba Sing Sei. Only he survived, as he was rescued by Nothern Water Tribe spies and taken to safety to the North Pole, as it was the dying wish of his mother.
15 years have passed since... Jan has travelled the world, seen and learned many things, strengthening his body and especially his mind.
He joined the Earth Rumble VII by coincidence, as he wants to test his own strength before he sets out for his initially mission: To rot out the Dai Lee

Special: Jan's a earth bender alright, but living and training with waterbenders has left marks on his fighting style which heavily influenced by Tai Chi, the trademark waterbender style. But this influence allowed him to develop an earthbending style unseen before. I'm not revealing it yet, but his glasses are made by this bending. 8D Let the guessing begin.
Now how could an earthbender learn earthbending on the North Pole, where's no single patch of earth?
Well, there IS one little patch of earth... fans know what I'm talking about. The Möbius bracelet he's wearing is made of that earth and he needs it for a very special kind of earthbending.


Gosh, I really need to learn how to draw T_T
Or at least design decent clothes. I decided to dress him into something similar like Sokka's robe (typical watertribe, even though Southern and not Nothern), just having the colours yellow and green, instead of the shades of blue.
He'll be redesigned anyway... if I'm not too lazy >_>

But yeah, Jan would be really happy to see that a Dai Lee [link] is participating as well.

Not telling 8D... kidding
okay, thanks to a tome stolen from Wang Shi Tong's library, he learned the basics of his bending. The book contained knowledge from old "mages" who called themselves alchemists. He read about a certain part of the earth, which is so hard, that it could even cut metal with ease. It's almost everywhere, but only with very, very high pressure you could create a piece big enough to use it: I'm talking about diamonds. So after years of training he isn't only able to bend diamonds, when he finds them, but also create them (even if he can't really do it in battle since it takes quite some time to build up and hold the pressure needed for and not every earth can bring forth diamonds). This way he's financing his travels 8D
So Jan has two very important in his possession: his diamond glasses (which are only in this form, because he thinks they make him look smarter XD) and his bracelet made of the earth from the north pole, which also has some special properties, but they are my secret

because bling-bling is so important for my gangstah image XD
I just wanted to have something to defend myself against metalbending, but tried to avoid being a metalbender myself 8D
I hope it's not way too lame >.>

hummmm glass and diamond bending huh....? that could get very interesting. is he just and earth bender or does he fire bend as well. To make either glass or diamonds you need a great amount of heat.... just a thought. great idea and great character. see you in the ring

It's just diamond bending, actually and he's not a fire bender, just earth. Great pressure produces a lot of heat as well, so he can create diamonds, but that takes a LOT of time. He needed a week of constant work to create a diamond big enough to shape his glasses (which are useless BTW, Jan has good sight, it just makes him look smarter) and not every earth provides the materials necessary to make diamonds anyway, so you don't have to worry about giant pillars of diamonds popping out of the nothing. But he can freely change the shape of them and make them REALLY sharp.
He doesn't use it as a weapon that much tho'... it's just a great defense against metal benders (me can cut handcuffs 8D)
