Anyway, hi guys and gals... its been a while since a proper journal which included some life stuffs and I'm really out of practice for some serious text walls, so I'll just do what I can.
So yeah, internship time. As some might know, I'm aspiring to become a high school teacher and this semester marks the beginning of my real teaching education. I'm visiting a school, sit in the back of various lessons (preferably my subjects maths and english, btw) and start giving some of my own (with guidance by a teacher) and I already assisted in 7th grad maths.
A delightful job, to say the least. Of course, it's stressful if you got 2 to 3 dozens of children going crazy, but being able to teach them and seeing their expression change when they finally realize the use of this or that formula is seriously worth it. Plus, I believe this is the best position to change the future to something better, if I can educate a new generation... very naive and idealistic, I know, but... AAAHHH LEMME ALONE, I LIKE THAT >:C
Sure, it's a scary job... because of the nature of students (I should know, I was one not too long ago) it's me vs. all of them, but I think I can manage. My physique gives me a little advantage. I'm big enough to make the kids (and teens... I'm gonna teach up to the 12th grade) realize that they can't push me around, but cuddly enough to make them not scared of me 8D
So yeah, that's why I wasn't that active in the past few weeks expect for the occasional comment and scribble. It takes a surprisingly huge amount of preparation to perform a decent class and I'm still trying to get into the rhythm but up til now... I'm pretty positive... and I can't wait to scar generation over generation with my maths classes

Devious Comments
You can follow the syllabus to the letter every time if you prepare correctly, but the hard part is presenting it to people.
My best recommendation is to make some rules that the kids will be able to think they can exploit. My fave teacher from school (as in the one I got on with the best, because they were all nice people, just very few could actually teach me...) had a great rule: Homework has deadlines. However, everybody knows that there are times when you can't make it, whether for procrastination or for lack of ability to do the work. A great idea is to have one 'get out of jail' card.
If you're late on homework, you can ask the teacher for an extension. If you fail to make that deadline, you fail the assignment, no questions. If you take the extension, you *cannot* take one for the next homework, and you fail if you do not make the deadline.
Think of rules like that, they're simple to understand, and they have consequences. If you stick to them, the kids respect you, and by offering them a second chance on meeting deadlines, they think you're cool. You could make yourself out to be a domineering ogre, but I just don't think you have it in you.
Ooh! Ooh-ooh-ooh, me sir! I have another! The embarrassment factor! If you want to make a group of rowdy kids in the back shut up, you can peer pressure them with the rest of the class! Something they did to the kids when I was at school. If somebody was acting up, kept talking when they were asked nicely to shut up, they got screened by the class.
A threat of 'double homework for *everybody* unless he shuts it' works well, but not shouted, just stated as absolute fact to the people at the front who're behaving themselves, the message gets passed back. And if the person in question turns around and mouths off to the one that tells them about the double homework, you can call them out on it, punish them as you see fit, because they stuck their foot in it
You see, I have absolute confidence in your ability to become a great teacher, so all I can do to help is tactics to secure your authority over the classes you have to teach.
FN!

"So he... wait, what the heck are you doing?"
"Spog."
"S-wha?"
"New word for belly-button fluff; Spog"
"Wow... raping the English language again I see. Genius. I knew I kept you around for a reason."

give us time to shine!
even diamonds start as coal...
aber es ist irgendwie toll... wenn bei kindern das sprichwörtliche licht angeht und sie dann begeistert die aufgabe lösen... hat was schönes, das mitanzusehen und zu fördern

I know that we are worlds apart
so all I can offer to you are words
honest ones, words from my heart
to close the gap between our worlds
aber ich kann mir schon vorstellen dass das ein gutes Gefühl ist, auch wenn Lehrer so gaaaaaar kein Beruf für mich wäre. zumindest nicht für Kinder, mit denen kann ich einfach nicht umgehen
